We had a very long winter and now that spring is finally here, many people are probably ready to do some serious spring cleaning which goes beyond decluttering the home or office. In fact, the dirt that was tracked in from the snow outside is covering your tiles and carpeting right now. That is the kind of spring cleaning that needs to be focused right at this very moment.

Let’s focus on the tiles first, and how to clean that efficiently. Firstly, you are going to need to vacuum or sweep your tiles 2 to 3 times a week because the dirt and grime that is on the tiles will scratch and dull the surface. After that has been removed, you are ready to start mopping the tiles. The way to do is to mix a mild detergent along with hot water. You will then need to apply a rag or a chamois mop, and not a sponge mop. That is because a sponge mop will push dirty water into the grout and soil it even more which will defeat the purpose. You can also create a cleaning solution as well by mixing vinegar or lemon juice with hot water is you don’t want to use the detergent.

However, whatever you choose to do in regards to how you clean your tiles, you need to make sure the bucket of whatever solution you have is changed often or else your mop will become dirty and will not properly clean your floor.

Now that you know how to clean your tiles, you are probably wondering how to clean that grout which is filled with dirt and grime that has been accumulated over time. You will need to get a toothbrush that you plan on not using. Then you will need to mix water and baking soda to create a paste. Use the toothbrush and apply it to the stained grout. You need to let it sit overnight and then after that, you will need to scrub it off with a nylon brush. Allow the grout to dry naturally, then apply a silicone-based grout sealer to prevent future stains.

Now that you know how to clean your tile and grout, you are going to need to know how to clean your carpet for the springtime. Firstly, you must vacuum your carpet at least once a week to remove any dirt from the surface. However, if you want to give your own carpet a deep cleaning, you will need to rent a carpet cleaner machine. You will want to make a cleaning solution that consists of 1/2 cup of water, 1/2 cup of vinegar, and 5 to 6 drops of essential oils and put it into the machine, and then it will give your carpet a deep cleaning. It will remove the embedded stains and dirt that accumulated in your carpet during the winter and prior! Allow your carpet to dry for 2 hours before walking on it again.

However, be sure not to use the carpet cleaning machine for more than once every 6 months because the moisture will end up damaging the carpet fibers. If you prefer a professional give your home a top-of-the-line spring cleaning, then you will need to hire a company that provides high-quality carpet and tile and grout cleaning services. That will remove the legwork for you in regards to stressing out over having a clean home. But you will want to properly maintain your carpeting and tile by utilizing the tips above so you can enjoy living in a clean home and your carpet and tiles for a long time!
